Triennial Meeting at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin TX from June 20 to June 24
“Walk His Way”
The Triennial Meeting of the Order of the Daughters of the King® was wonderful. Eight Daughters from our Diocesan Assembly attended the conference. Two Daughters from St Mary’s in Columbia and a Daughter from Tennessee staffed the Ecuador/Haiti booth. The 1885 Designs booth is a ministry of Peggy Denny at St Augustine of Canterbury in Aiken; she and several other Daughters staffed the booth. Our diocese was well represented!
There were three keynote speakers, many workshops, three Eucharists, daily morning, noonday and evening prayer, and a tiny bit of free time. The keynoters spoke on evangelism as sharing personal stories. When we share stories with love and respect, the Holy Spirit will have a chance to work in our hearts. I think they meant being an “attractive nuisance” like a home swimming pool, but without the need for a safety fence. The talks were more about process than content – being enthusiastic and genuine, not preaching rules of life. One of the keynoters was also a keynoter at ECW Triennial.
Many parts of the meeting were live streamed, and the videos are still available on the National DOK web site. I especially recommend Canon Stiller’s speeches and the International Assembly presentations.
There were several legislative sessions. Seven of the seventeen candidates standing for election were from our province. Six of them were elected. The new president Krisita Jackson is from Province IV.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to attend. Thank you all very much for sending me.
